General
What is insulation and why is it important?
Insulation reduces heat loss through your roof, walls, floors and windows. It keeps warmth in during winter and heat out during summer. This means lower energy consumption, greater comfort and a more energy-efficient home.
Which insulation measure is right for my home?
That depends on the year your home was built, its existing insulation and where most heat is lost. During a home survey, we advise you on which measure will deliver the greatest benefit.
Where should I start with insulation?
Roof insulation often makes the biggest difference, as heat rises. Cavity wall insulation, floor insulation and glazing usually come next. During your consultation, we’ll work out the best order for your home together.
Find out where to startCan I combine several measures?
Yes. Measures such as floor, roof and cavity wall insulation and HR++ double glazing complement each other and can further reduce energy loss. Combining measures can also be beneficial when applying for an ISDE grant.
Will insulation improve my home’s energy rating?
Insulation is one of the most effective ways to improve your home’s energy rating. How many bands you move up depends on your home’s current condition and the measures you choose.

When is it time to replace my window frames?
If you notice draughts, timber rot, condensation between the panes or windows that don’t close properly, replacement is often a sensible option. New window frames with insulating glazing immediately improve comfort and reduce heat loss.
Explore our window framesWhat is the difference between HR++ double glazing and triple glazing?
HR++ double glazing consists of two panes of glass with an insulating coating and a gas-filled gap. Triple glazing has three panes and provides even better insulation. The right choice depends on your window frames and your requirements.
More about HR++ double glazing and triple glazingCan I just have the glazing replaced?
If your existing window frames are still in good condition and can accommodate thicker glass, you can have just the glazing replaced. We’ll check whether this is possible during the inspection.

How does cavity wall insulation work?
The gap between the inner and outer walls is filled with insulation through small drilled holes. The holes are then neatly filled to match the colour of the mortar joints.
More about cavity wall insulationIs my home suitable for cavity wall insulation?
Most homes with cavity walls are suitable. During an inspection, we check the width and condition of the cavity and look for any damp problems.
How is a floor insulated?
If there is a crawl space beneath your floor, the underside of the floor is insulated with polyurethane (PUR) foam or insulation boards. This reduces heat loss through the floor and makes it feel warmer underfoot.
More about floor insulationWhat is crawl space ground insulation?
Crawl space ground insulation involves covering the ground beneath your floor with insulating material. This reduces damp and cold rising from the ground and is an option when the floor itself is difficult to access.
How is a roof insulated?
We insulate a pitched roof from the inside, exclusively with PIF thermal cushions. A flat roof can be insulated on the top or underside.

Can I get a subsidy for insulation?
Many insulation measures are eligible for the national ISDE subsidy. Some municipalities also have their own schemes. Conditions may change.
Explore the available grantsHow much grant funding can I get for insulation?
The amount depends on the measure, the area in square metres and the number of measures you combine. You’ll find the current amounts for each measure on our grant pages.
Does my local council offer its own insulation grant?
Many local councils offer their own scheme in addition to the ISDE grant. Our local council pages show the conditions for each council and whether funding is still available.
Search your municipalityCan you help me apply for a grant?
Yes. We check which schemes apply to your home and help you with your application, so you don’t miss out.
Can I pay for insulation in monthly instalments?
Yes, there are ways to spread the cost of insulation, for example through the Warmtefonds. We’ll be happy to explain the options available to you.

How long does the work take?
Many insulation jobs can be completed in a single day. The exact time required depends on your home and the measure you choose.
Is a home inspection necessary?
An inspection helps assess the technical options, ventilation and condition of your home thoroughly in advance.
Do I need to be at home while the work is being carried out?
For most jobs, it’s helpful to have someone at home to let the installers in. We’ll agree this with you in advance.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes, our work comes with a 10-year guarantee.
How much does insulation cost?
The cost depends on the measure, the area to be insulated and your home’s specific circumstances. Request a free quote for a price tailored to your home.
